Jam Handy Organization was founded by Jam Handy just before the First World War. The company produced educational, advertising, and training films. During the First and Second World Wars, Jam Handy Organization animated and produced training and instructional films for the US government. Due to the location of the studio, Detroit, Handy produced a substantial number of promotional and training films for General Motors, Chevrolet and other companies in the Midwest. The company produced also educational films distributed to schools all across the country. Animators working for Jam Handy include Eugene (Gene) Deitch, Max Fleischer and Martin B. (Marty) Taras, among others.
