Frequently Asked Questions:
What does the Editor do?
At present, we have asked people widely recognized as experts in the study of animation to serve on the wiki Editorial Board. We hope that these members will determine whether new contributors may be given full access to the wiki. While many wikis allow full access first, then remove people who turn out to be less than positive contributors, we feel that—given our limited resources and the incredible popularity of animation—it will be wiser to limit access initially with the hope of opening the wiki up once we have a robust community of contributors. Editors who want to edit or add posts are of course, free to do so.
How will the Editors review contributor requests?
One of the current wiki administrators will forward contributor requests to the Editors. We will then wait a set period of time, such as a week, to give as many editors as possible a chance to weigh in before passing on the potential contributor. If there are no concerns, we’ll welcome the contributor. If someone on the board does have a concern, we will discuss it.
Will members of the Editorial Board have to review individual contributions?
No. The wiki administrators will review individual contributions and will only contact the Editorial Board if there is a problem that they feel needs to be addressed by the board.
Will the websites of the Editors be linked to the Early Animation Wiki?
Not necessarily. You may choose whether to have your name on the Editors page hotlinked to your email or website. If you want to have your website listed on the wiki, it will appear under the heading Supporters.
